Terese Keirnan
Terese is the managing partner and majority owner of Kessler & Keirnan. Before joining Stuart Kessler in 1996 at his predecessor firm, Stuart M. Kessler, P.C., she practiced general corporate and real estate law at a downtown Chicago law firm. Her practice since then has been exclusively concentrated in real estate law. With over 30 years of experience, Terese brings a deep level of expertise to all aspects of REO and conventional residential and commercial real estate transactions.
Terese represents an array of asset management companies, servicers, outsourcers, lenders, and GSE’s in the Illinois REO market. Although Terese is involved throughout the closing process, a particular focus of her REO practice is title curative review and clearance. She works closely with title companies to quickly identify and resolve a broad range of title and survey issues, including improper vesting, use restrictions, building lines, easements and encroachments, as well as liens, encumbrances, mortgage discrepancies and releases, and other issues that may affect title marketability and conveyance.
She also regularly represents both sellers and buyers in all facets of conventional residential and commercial real estate transactions. Terese’s services include contract drafting and negotiation, attending to attorney review, survey and inspection issues, title review and clearance, review and preparation of closing documents, as well as coordination and completion of the closing.
Terese approaches each transaction with an understanding of how important it is to the client. She strongly believes that an attorney’s personal attention and responsiveness can make a critical, positive difference in the closing process. Terese is committed to providing the highest level of communication and coordination to meet the goals and expectations of each client for a successful closing.
Terese is married to Scott Greene, who joined the firm in 2018. Although she has lived with Scott and her three boys for the past 30 years in Long Grove, Terese grew up in Chicago a few blocks from Wrigley Field. Not surprisingly, she bleeds “Cubbie blue” and, after the Cubs won the 2016 World Series, was finally able to forget the infamous ’69 season! When she’s not following the Cubs, Terese enjoys reading, gardening, and travel.
